Evan
I signed up for everest base camp trek in April 2011, an eighteen days trek to everest base camp through chola pass and back. All the arrangements were made through email with Jamling Bhote who was very prompt in replying emails to furnish me with all the details I required. Smooth and easy, and it made it very comfortable for us.
My friends arrived a day before me but Jamling still managed to arrange hotel and even had Pasang Bhote to be there to bring my friends around if they wanted to. We had a very knowledgeable guide who helped us along the way, we were so comfortable with him and we became almost instant friends.
Unfortunately, I fell sick, due to travelers diarrhea and AMS. Dorchi Bhote, our guide got some potters together to carry me down from Debuche and he followed to. That night I could sleep well and he laid beside me to put me to sleep to warm me up. He was very concerned and worried and kept asking if I was ok or kept calling me to prevent me from falling alseep during the trek down. Eventually, they brought me all the way to Lukla where I had to rest a night as weather was bad and I couldn’t fly out. Dorchi reluctantly told me he had to leave to make his back to Debuche where my friends were.
I flew out to Kathmandu the next day and Pasang Bhote was there to pick me and bring me to the clinic where I had to stay for 2 nights and he came on both days to keep me company. Even after I was discharged, he came every alternate days to see me and see how I’m doing.
Though the sickness was a bad experience, Pasang and Dorchi Bhote made the trip a lot better with their genuine care and concern. I still keep in touch with them either through Facebook or emails.
Thanks to them both and the company I am able to pen this down.
Thanks!
